  • Voice – the state of vocal folds (vibrate or not?)
  • Place – which articulators are involved in the production of particular sound
  • Manner – how the sound is produced, the direction of the air is flowing, & the circumstances affecting the tongue

  • Voiceless consonants a sound made with no vibration of the vocal cords
